If you are here, you recognize that something is deeply broken in our nation. The highest law of the land, our Constitution, is being undermined and attacked by Donald Trump and his Republican administration every day, and the Democrats continue to play a game of chess while their opponent punches them in the face.
The legislative and judicial branches are being ignored or dismantled, weakening the system of checks and balances intended to prevent our nation from collapsing into dictatorship.
Our rights, such as the right to choose, marry, vote, and even speak freely, are being eroded by the emboldened and regressive officials of this lawless administration.
Armed and masked government agents are kidnapping people off the streets, imprisoning and removing them from their homes and families with no due process.
And all the while, billionaires continue to see record-breaking profits at the expense of our labor, while the working class is left to contend with stagnant wages and an ever-rising cost of living.

We believe that the best antidote to the tyranny of the toxic 1% is a strong sense of community. Many Minnesotans feel displaced, devalued, and disconnected in a society designed to isolate, divide, and exploit our humanity in the name of record profits. As Americans, we are born into this system, and we are never taught to ask: what if it didn’t have to be this way..?
When people feel a strong sense of community, they feel valued, empowered, and more connected to our collective humanity. Strong communities are built on the fundamental truth that all people deserve the right to freedom, opportunity, and safety. We strengthen our communities by:
investing in people power instead of profits
rebuilding social safety nets with mutual aid networks
abolishing and rebuilding oppressive systems, shifting power back into the hands of the many instead of the few
and re-calibrating our society to care more about morality instead of legality.

Any gains made by the Anti-Trump resistance must be equitable. We are not free unless we are all free. This means rejecting tactics that only benefit certain groups, while leaving others behind, and making demands that better the lives of all.

A major contributing factor to the rise of fascism in our country has been the lack of accountability BY those in power FOR those in power. We demand that justice be the foundation we rebuild upon after this current administration is ended.
Justice must mean accountability and meaningful consequences for those currently violating the constitution in the name of Donald Trump, other administration officials, and the agencies and individuals of DHS, ICE, and all other actors complicit in their immoral lawlessness.
Justice must mean accountability and reparations for the communities most affected by the harmful actions and decisions made by those in power. We cannot fix, heal, and move forward beyond these systemic and complex issues if we cannot face them.
Justice must mean advocating for and building an equitable society, with intention and dedication to correcting previous injustices to all marginalized people across Minnesota and the United States.
Finally, Justice must mean democracy FOR ALL. Not just for those who can afford it.
Minnesota 50501 is a grassroots, non-partisan 501(c)4 nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the diverse coalition that is the Minnesotan Resistance against an immoral, unlawful, and increasingly tyrannical federal government; and envisioning what comes after.
We believe that democracy is for all Americans, regardless of race, creed, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability. We recognize that building a better America must start with building a better Minnesota: the true North Star state; a guiding light for others to follow into a better future.
